Ankush Nandi
PhD candidate
Mechanical Engineering Department
University of Washington, Seattle
I am a final year PhD student at Vashisth Research Laboratory of Prof. Aniruddh Vashisth at the University of Washington, Seattle. My research is focused in the areas of Mechanics of Materials, Design, Composite Materials, High energetics like Radio-frequency; Plasma; Ultrasonics, Sustainable Polymers and Advanced Manufacturing. Prior joining UW, Seattle as a PhD student I worked for Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai, India for half a decade. There I was entrusted in design (Body on Frame and Monocoque chassis) and simulation (Full Vehicle Ride & Handling as per ISO, Road Load Data Acquisition Virtual Analysis, Powertrain vibration analysis, Steering returnability analysis etc.) of Vehicle Chassis and mechanical controls. I completed my undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Silchar, India. There I was fortunate to work with Prof. Sudipta Halder on coating of carbon fibers with oxidised carbon nano-particles using ultrasonicated electrophoretic deposition to increase the interlaminar shear strength of carbon fiber laminates. An Indian patent (Patent No.-341816) was granted for the work.
When not in the lab I am usually running along the Burke-Gilman trail, working on my cooking skills, fishing or driving around the mesmerizing city of Seattle. Please feel free to shoot me an email or contact through any social media platform listed below if you have any questions or for collaboration.
