I took part in a competition where teams of 3 students competed head-to-head in a challenge where we were tasked to build and operate a robot that could sense, navigate, and maneuver different game pieces to score points autonomously. Throughout the course, students learned how to construct and program a robot from the ground up while learning about the fundamental components of mechanical elements, electronics, and computing. While the overarching goal was to build a robot that could compete autonomously, students also had the option to operate their systems remotely over Wi-Fi but only by using the information from the sensors as they navigated the field.
