About me
I am an Assistant Professor at the Engineering Mechanics Unit in the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre of Advanced Scientific Research located in Bengaluru, India.
Before this, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Racah Institute of Physics, Jerusalem. I did my PhD with Prof. Anurag Gupta at the IIT Kanpur. I finished my B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree from department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
Research Interests
Broadly my research is at the intersection of applied mathematics and continuum (solid) mechanics. My research interests include (for some more detail):
Geometric frustration in elastic solids, Mechanics of thin structures, Interplay of geometry and topology, Phenomena like plasticity, biological growth, active systems, Plasticity in granular systems. We explore these problems both from theoretical and computational methods.
If you are a researcher with similar interests, feel free to reach out.
For Interested Students
I am open to research in broad areas related to solid mechanics and applied mathematics based on mutual interest. From a mechanics point of view, I am interested in mechanics of thin sheets, plasticity, growth, active matter... which raise corresponding questions in theoretical mechanics on singularities, topological defects...Mechanics of solids raises very interesting questions in the mathematical fields of Differential Geometry, Analysis and Topology which I am interested in exploring.
Please feel free to write to me if you would like more details and discuss further.
In case you have questions about my work or are curious about research in these areas and want to discuss, please feel free to get in touch.
