Before you start, it is very important that you have all of your ingredients together as well as your tools. Organization in the kitchen will make your life much more managable and less frustrating.
Oh and you should wash your hands!
Step One - Hack and Slash!
Leeks
Take your leeks and chop off the root ends. The part that you want would be the white and some of the green. Chop the leeks horizontally. There is no real precise size your pieces should be. It shouldn’t be diced and it should be more than just 3 cuts. Add to large bowl, wash and push rings out of most of the slices you made. It doesn’t have to be all of them.
Garlic
Take your 5 cloves of garlic and carefully mince them finely. Watch those fingers! Add to small bowl. NOT YOUR FINGERS!!!!
Potato.
Rinse potatoes.
Peel your potatoes with a vegetable peeler. After you have finished peeling your potatoes, chop them up. I chopped mine into circles and then cut them into thirds afterwords. Add to your second large bowl
Sept 2 - Hot Stuff Coming through
Turn pot on to high heat. You will know pot is ready when you add a few drops of water to it and it instantly evaporates.
When pot is hot enough, add oil to coat the bottom followed by garlic, potatoes, leeks, and the 1st cup of water.
Cover with lid for 5 minutes on medium high.
After 5 minutes add the second cup of water, mix, and cover for 10 minutes on medium heat.
After 10 minutes uncover and mix thoroughly.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes mixing every 5 minutes.
After 15 minutes, potatoes should be soft. Take one. It should take little to no effort to crush with a spoon. If still hard, simmer and mix for a little while longer. If soft, add mixture to blender.
Step 3 - Wrrrryyyyyy (Goes the Blender)
Toss everything into the blender!!
Add Milk and Salt until you reach your desired level of soupiness and taste.
