Key Words
Anime is based on Asian culture making new words hard for beginners to understand. Here are common phrases you might listen to during the club or discuss anime outside of the club. Be forewarned that some of these phrases can be slang or sexual innuendos.
English Sub - japanses voices with english translation on the bottom (Voice Acting is typically better than dub)
English Dub - English voice over the original anime/manga
Otaku - person obsessed with a fandom
Weeaboo - a non-japanese person who is obessed with japanese culture
Webtoon - full color and long panels
Manwha - korean based comics that are mostly colored
Fanfiction - stories fan writes based on a show (OCs, shipping, or crossovers)
Manga - black and white comic that reads right to left
Tsundere - a character who acts cold until you get to know them
Cosplay - dressing up as a character from an anime movies or TV show
J-Pop - Japanese pop music
K-Pop - Korean pop music
Abridge - reduction of a book or other creative work into a shorter form (most of time it is humorous)
Moe - cute characters that watchers want to protect
Chibi - something small and cute
Q-Verison - a cute verison of a person
Lolita - dressing up in Victorian-inspired outfits to look like a doll
Harem - a male protagonist is surrounded female characters that are attracted to him
Reverse Harem - a female protaonist is surrounded by male chracters that are attrtacted to him
Isekai - reborn/transported in another world (world based)
Reincarnation - person's essence continues after their bodies die by being reborn or brought back in a different period (time based)
Shounen - show intended for teen boys
Bishoujo - beautiful girl
Seinen - anime intended for young men
Shoujo - show intended for teen girls
Bishounen - Handsome boy
Josei - anime intended for young women
Mahoshoujo - magical girls

Doujinshi - Fan-made manga based on anime/manga (a lot of them are sexualized...)
Shipping - the viewer want two character to get together
Waifu - character that the viewer has romantic affection for
Fan Service - additonal naughty material to please viewers like panty shots or having physic defying boobs

Hentai - anime that is pornographic
Yuri or GL (Girls Love) - homosexual love stories about two females
Ecchi - contains sexual themes
Yaoi or BL (Boys Love) -homosexual love stories about two guys
