Welcome to Anime Club based at the University of Pittsburgh! We join every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 pm to 11 pm on the third floor of the Cathedral Building. Typically, in the club meetings we watch four episodes (two episodes from two different anime that won a popularity poll in Discord), discuss the shows, and finish off with an anime-related activity (optional, check email to see if there is one). We also do outside events for Movies and activities (Check Email for List and Dates).

What is Anime?
Good question which can't be explained in a couple sentences... The best I can come up with is 'japanese cartoons with hype art and scenes'. Want a more detailed verison? Here are different sections that are part of this website that might spark you interest!

There are multiple ways to enjoy anime/manga :
There are multiple ways to enjoy anime/manga :
1) If you like television, then anime would be your best bet. You can find and watch anime through multiple streaming services. If you like cartoons and heavy artwork, this is the route to go. The most common for anime viewers is Crunchyroll and Funimation. Technically, you can pirate anime as well, but we don't encourage it.
2) There are also light novels that contain stories. Most of the time, light novels come first, then manga is created through the light novel, and finally, it can become animated.
3) Mangas are a good way to read black-and-white pictures. Most of all anime are based on manga.
4) Webtoons are colored manga that is typically a long strip
5) Manhwa are Korean-based comics that are most of the time in full-color
6) Conventions and cosplays are a good way to gather during events
7) Buying products like figures or keychains based on an anime
8) Fanfiction is stories a fan writes based on a show (small novel)
9) Video Games that were created in Asia or based on an anime
