Using the term ‘super’ in its original latinate meaning ‘beyond’ (as in ‘supersonic’), ‘Super Linguistics’ is defined as the application of linguistic methodology and methodology inspired by linguistics (especially from the perspective of syntax and semantics) to diverse non-standard objects (beyond standard linguistic objects of study), including animal calls and gestures.
The Super Linguistics network grew out of collaborations between the Super Linguistics research group at the University of Oslo and the LINGUAE research group at the Ecole Normale Supérieure. It's goal is to establish an international network of researchers whose research interests have an affinity to Super Linguistics. To this purpose, a closed and low-traffic mailing list is used to circulate information on events relevant to super linguistics and coordinate possible collaborations. If you are interested in joining the mailing list, please send an email to pritty.patel-grosz(at)iln.uio.no
