1. Viola — Twelfth Night, Act 2, Scene 2
Beginning: “I left no ring with her. What means this lady?”
A funny, fast-moving monologue as Viola realizes Olivia has fallen in love with her while she is disguised as Cesario.
2. Malvolio — Twelfth Night, Act 2, Scene 5
Beginning: “’Tis but fortune; all is fortune.”
Malvolio fantasizes about marrying Olivia and imagining himself elevated in status.
3. Prospero — The Tempest, Act 5, Scene 1
Beginning: “Ye elves of hills, brooks, standing lakes and groves…”
Prospero reflects on the incredible power of his magic as he prepares to give it up.
4. Mark Antony — Julius Caesar, Act 3, Scene 2
Beginning: “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears…”
Antony addresses the Roman crowd after Caesar’s death and carefully uses his words to influence their emotions.

Following the prepared monologues, we will hold a closed cold read using selected Shakespeare scenes. This portion of the audition will allow the production team to see how actors work with scene partners, take direction, and approach Shakespearean text.
