I'm currently a student at Cal State San Marcos for a B.A in Biochemistry and minor in Visual Arts. Many people ask me why I wanted a minor that differs from my major. One of the main reasons is that I'm a passionate artist. My artistic skills are specialized in realism and surrealism. Being able to draw, I'm able to relieve my stress from school and/or my personal problems.
As for my biochemistry major, my plan with this degree is to become a veterinarian and create a nonprofit organization for animals that have been abused, neglected, or disabled so they can get re-adopted. By establishing this nonprofit organization, I can create a safe space for animals with health care providers to be eligible for re-adopted.
In order to accomplish my goal of becoming a vet, I need to fulfill my degree requirements. The following are some of the classes I'm planning to take:
NON-BIOLOGY/CHEMISTRY SUPPORTING COURSES:
MATH 160: Calculus with Applications I
MATH 162: Calculus with Applications II
PHYS 201: Physics of Mechanics & Sound
PHYS 202: Physics of Electromagnetism & Optics

My plans with my minor in visual arts are stated in the following paragraph. Although, to accomplish my plans, I must fulfill my degree requirements. The following are some of the classes I'm planning to take:
REQUIRED COURSES:
AMD 100: Visual Arts Fundamentals
AMD 101: Drawing I: Pencil to Pixel
AMD 103: Introduction to Sculpture
AMD 105: Digital Photography
AMD 120: Introduction to Visual Arts
CRITICAL / THEORETICAL STUDY COURSES:
AMD 368: Arts of World Cultures
UPPER-DIVISION STUDIO COURSES:
AMD 301: Drawing II
I still recall my first professional drawing, it was titled Lion because it was a realistic illustration of a lion's face. I drew it in high school at the back of the classroom. I put some music on and began working, the sensation of being able to create something was indescribable. I had full control of my illustrations, I was able to create worlds from my imagination. I will never forget the feeling. Something that becomes unfamiliar becomes home. The ability of drawing became something very therapeutic because I can express my feelings and challenges. I also like to share my political view and experience through my artwork to help inspire others. Although, one of my favorite things about drawing can create something and allow others to create their interpretation.
My plan for my minor in visual arts is to expand my knowledge and ability in drawing. Once I have expanded my knowledge and can create professional artwork, I would like to sell and create an income. By creating an income or establishing a small business, I will be able to manage my budget and use the income to pay the expenses of proceeding with my career.
