Information Literacy Spaces

From 2016-2019, I was an associate investigator in a research team based in Aotearoa New Zealand looking at the role of information literacy (IL) in both senior secondary and tertiary education. We collaborated with teachers and librarians to promote and develop what we think are essential skills for every learner in this modern day environment of information overload. Our key focuses were promoting the role of the library in this space and setting up collaborative partnerships between teachers and librarians to teach IL skills.

As part of this project, I collaborated with Carla Jeffrey (Ngai Tuhoe), a business librarian, to create the Rauru Whakarare Evaluation Framework (still accessible on our Information Literacy Spaces project page). While a new framework, Te Whatu Aho Rau, has emerged, the previous framework can still be used by those who have already engaged with it.
