About me
I am a qualified and professional homebased educator, with over 14 years experience in this job. I discovered my enjoyment of childcare whilst raising my now teenager. My philosophy
My philosophy
I believe strongly in building respectful, reciprocal relationships. I encourage each child, as a unique individual with their own strengths, to become a competent, confident learner. In practice, this means that I do everything with the child, not to them. Children are active participants in their own care. My job is to scaffold their learning in order to extend their understanding and abilities, adjusting our environment and resources depending on the tamariki in care, their interests and personalities. I hold the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Levels 3 and 4). I have a current first aid qualification for child first aid. I have also attended many other personal development courses, webinars and information sessions over the last 14 years, always aiming to gain the latest understanding of child development.
