The most common question I get when talking to Pittsburg neighbors about the City Clerk race is, "Why should I vote for you?"
I think that is the ultimate question every voter asks themselves at the ballot box or when filling out their vote-by-mail ballot. Below I outline factual differences between those of us in the race to be Pittsburg next City Clerk that can be verified by anyone.
Despite being the elected Pittsburg City Clerk for the last 20 years, she does not believe the position should be elected and responsible to the voters. If she had it her way, voters would not have a voice in selecting this office holder. She has supported three different City Measures to change the elected City Clerk position into one appointed by the City Manager. If this lines up with your values, then she might be your candidate.
She has been the Elections Officer for the City of Pittsburg the last 10 election cycles, THAT'S 40 YEARS! A lot has changed since the 1980s in terms of technology and business. If you want more of the same and don't see change as growth, then she might be your candidate.
The City Clerk's Office for the City of Pittsburg is designed to function as an independent body, hence the elected City Clerk/department head. Ms. Venenciano is currently the Director of City Clerk Services and reports to the City Manager. If you think she can run a truly independent office from the Administration, then she might be your candidate.
She has yet to participate in any of the public debates/appearances. If you see this as a good trait for someone holding public office and being accountable to voters, then she might be your candidate.
A Real Estate professional, a Notary Public, a clothing designer, a social media content creator, a paralegal, and an online adult model, with no government/municipal experience. If you think someone with no experience is a good fit, then she might be your candidate.
Certified Municipal Clerk - Being a City Clerk is my full time day job. I love taking the complexity of government and making it understandable to the common person.
11+ years of Municipal/Government experience. I found my calling for government service early out of college. I learned that I enjoy organizing community, running committees, being a resource to constituents, while making sure things are done correctly and for the benefit of the people.
Proven Work Experience - I have served as the Election Officer for the City of Los Altos for the 2022 general election. I qualified my interested candidates for City Council, worked in partnership with the Registrar of Voters to ensure nothing was missed, swore in successful candidates, and made sure they had a good and successful transition becoming a Councilmember.
I fundamentally believe that the Voters should have the right to elect local government officials. Local representatives serve at the pleasure of their constituents. We are their as a mouthpiece for the majority while ensuring minorities are not left behind.
