Proof? Not really, my helmet was on my desk the day I got it.
(I actually wore it at the office to test it out)
On Sunday evening the new route took me way longer than I’d anticipated. I think I did the exact predicted time from Google Maps. I’m sorry experienced bikers for not living up to your standard. (Jk)
Then, in true Caribbean weather fashion, the rain killed weekend riding. So it wasn’t just my inexperience with riding in heavy rain, knowing that my helmet fogs a lot, and you know, being afraid of sliding on wet road, it was HEAVY flood friendly rain.
My mother was laughing at me saying,
"Nobody en tell you to go an buy dry season vehicle."
Yes, I often contemplate a car when it’s raining or I’m too anxious to ride, but I can’t afford both so no.
Anyway, backstory aside, I rode to work today!
Well, I woke up anxious but starved of the bike pleasure.
And the rain and weather forecast is still saying no to weekend rides, so you’re speaking universe, I shall listen. I have procrastinated on my commute rides for too long.*
So with my anxiety this morning which surprised me by not disappearing as soon as I started rolling (a tiny bit concerning), I throttled and leaned myself all 15 Km, [insert applause here] safely.
I’m still anxious and thus prone to rambling so I’ll stop here.
New level unlocked: Weekday ride!

*Although I’m considering this commuting, I’m really just butchering the word here. Commuting more implies riding regularly to and from work.
