Global Coursework

Economics

senior year

In Economics, I learned about how the world's interconnected monetary systems run, observing economic ideas from a globalized lens.

AP French

junior year

AP French was the most rigorous foreign language course available at AHS; it was also the most fruitful. I improved my French skills and prepared to travel to Strasbourg in April 2024.

Modern World

sophomore year

My favorite aspect of the Modern World was the weekly current events research we would do, allowing the class to stay up to date on international news.

AP Java

junior year / digital learning

Taking CS courses allowed me to realize just how worldly and ubiquitous computing has become. From creating language detection algorithms to debugging a Google backend, the implications of computer science are large on a global scale.

AP Computer Science Principles

senior year / digital learning

In this broader and more advanced CS course, I built upon my previous computing foundation, now exploring cybersecurity, data structures, and other aspects of computing that can be applied on a global scale.

AP United States History

junior year

APUSH is one of the most challenging yet rewarding courses I've taken at AHS. While many young people fare well with understanding general American politics from a modern global lens, it's more complex (and important) to understand the historical backing, as well. APUSH provided just that.

World History

freshman year

In this freshman year history class, I was introduced to many broad topics about different cultures around the world. My favorite unit was a European art unit, where we learned the significance of specific colors on paintings of the Nativity of Jesus.
