Constructed Armwrestling Table
Mar 2021
Armwrestling may be considered a casual game with friends, but it is exhilarating as a professional sport. In the Spring of 2021, I decided to build my armwrestling table and armwrestle with my father and friends.
Professional armwrestling requires a table with specific dimensions, two elbow pads, two pin pads, and two pegs. The elbow of the wrestling arm rests on the elbow pad, and the goal is to drive the opponent's hand onto or under the pin pad. The non-wrestling hand holds onto the pole for support. In addition, the pin and elbow pads are removable and can be flipped to switch to the other arm.
WAF Armwrestling Table Specifications
The WAF Armwrestling Table has a tabletop of 38 inches by 26 inches. The pin pads are two inches thick, and the pin pads are 4 inches tall.
I constructed the wooden table, made of wooden planks, boards, and screws, using a drill and handheld saw. The elbow and pin pads are made of foam, wood, and plywood, and covered with vinyl fabric. Bolts extend from the bottom of the pads, allowing them to attach to the table through drilled thru-holes. A specific thru-hole pattern was drilled to allow one to remove the pads and flip them for the other arm. Finally, the pegs are pipes connected to a flange fastened to the tabletop.
