Biography

Andy Austin is currently a graduate teaching assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Andy transferred to Commerce after beginning graduate study in saxophone performance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to graduate study, Andy received his Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Pedagogy from the University of Tennessee at Martin. While at UTM Andy was the 2016 Concerto Competion winner, 2016 Performing Artist of the Year, and 2016 Community Music Academy Teacher of the Year. Andy's primary teachers have been Allen Rippe, Dr. Doug Owens, Mark McArthur, and Dr. Chris Beaty. Following completion of his master's degree, Andy intends to pursue a DMA and teach at the university level. Andy is an alumni of the Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan and continues to work there each summer. Andy is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and an endorsing artist with Marca Reeds and Marmaduke Music.
