IT professionals are tasked with balancing the requirements of protecting business information with the privacy concerns of its employees, customers and partners. This course provides an in depth examination of the current state of information security with an additional look at the legal and ethical concerns with privacy.
Using the required textbook, selected readings, and case studies this course will enable students to support, implement an advice management on the following topics: The historical overview of the legal requirements and ethical concerns concerning privacy;tThe proper classification and privacy requirements of business information; the physical and cyber vulnerably of business information and the methods to reduce or eliminate those threats, including methods that are not viable; the current and cutting edge security technologies of networks, operating systems, databases, data mining and computer applications; the current legal requirements to ensure the privacy of a company's customers, employees and partners; creating comprehensive disaster recovery plans; digital or computer forensics - the investigation of material found in digital devices, often in relation to computer crime; ethics and additional emerging topics.
