Maker education is the practice of educators using emerging technologies, such as 3D printers or VR tech, in order to encourage practical problem solving for students. This topic prioritizes peer-to-peer teaching, "failing forward", and stressing the learner-driven experience. Maker education is crucial as the world becomes more technology based and these emerging technologies become more economically practical to be used in classroom. For me, experiencing the 3D printer, scanner and VR technologies in class creates a motivation for the STEM field that could benefit an entire generation of students. Students would also gain skills and understanding of technology that would make them more valuable to the eventual job market. Focusing on emerging technologies like this also establishes creativity in students in a way that could foster new ideas from the younger generation.
