VR Roller Coaster

This mechatronics project was very involved and came off as a great success. Within given requirements our idea was to create a toy so that people who for whatever reason could not go to theme parks could have an affordable, customizable, in-home roller coaster adventure. Using K'nex sets we constructed a roller coaster to which we attached a VR Camera and headset.

What we used:

• IR sensor- sensed when cart reached a certain point and engaged railroad crossing lights and a sound buzzer
• limit switch- once the cart passed this location it began a countdown visible to the rider until the BIG DROP
• push button- user input for controlling the lifting chain

The Results:

The Roller coaster worked great every time. The instructor was so impressed we were invited to share our project in front of the entire class.

Design Robot for class project.

Requirements to accomplish were to build a device that would travel across a 1" diameter pipe as fast as possible. Device needed to be less than 6" long and 4 pounds.

Designed using solid works, 3d printing, and machining.
