Commitment to Diversity

As Editor-in-Chief of The Chronicle, I have prioritized telling diverse stories in our newspaper.

As the largest high school in Ohio, Mason High School has nearly 4,000 students.

Mason has a very diverse population of students, and the stories in our paper must reflect the various voices in our community.

A theme for our staff this year has been getting more student faces in the paper. One way we have accomplished this is by incorporating more unique themed feature pages that incorporate short quotes from students.

As a sports writer and editor, I have made it a mission to illuminate the unknown stories of athletes and sports that receive less coverage.

During my time with Mason Sports Radio, we expanded from covering just football and basketball to over ten sports. (boys and girls soccer, boys and girls volleyball, baseball, softball, boys and girls lacrosse, and track and field)

Attached are four stories from The Chronicle that display the diverse storytelling in our newspaper. The fishing story (left) was written by me in April 2023, and the other three stories have appeared in recent editions of the paper during my leadership as Editor-in-Chief.
