Projects may involve machine learning, agent-based modelling, algorithmic trading, financial forecasting, market microstructure, market efficiency, behavioural finance, and financial decision-making. Students with an interest in programming (particularly Python), statistics, finance or economics are encouraged to enquire.
This research theme explores the economics and financial behaviour of commodity markets, with a particular focus on the increasing role of financial investors in commodity price formation. Projects may examine commodity futures markets, price discovery, market efficiency, financialisation, risk management, exchange-traded commodities (ETCs), sustainability, and the growing use of quantitative methods to analyse commodity markets.
This research theme explores the valuation of financial assets and companies, the determinants of expected returns, corporate financial decision-making, and the application of quantitative techniques to investment analysis. Projects may involve empirical asset pricing, valuation, corporate finance, financial modelling, machine learning, and sustainable finance.
