EXPERIENCE IN RESEARCH PROJECTS

• Research duties: development and validation of new ageing research methods and metrics; mixed-methods research integrating primary, secondary survey-based and administrative data; literature reviews focused on healthy ageing operationalisation (conceptual, empirical and methodological challenges), with advanced knowledge of ageing measurement instruments; survey methods for new data gatherings (evidence-based survey instrument design, method choice, ethics approval, protocol, sampling, delivery, results rollout); other primary data collection and qualitative analysis (focus groups, semi-structured interviews); quantitative data analysis (cross-sectional and longitudinal, including household panels, cohort, prevalence, epidemiological, repeated-measures studies); research dissemination and peer-reviewed publications. 
• Project administration duties: inter- and intra-institutional coordination and oversight of Spoke administrative activities, scientific reporting, dissemination support and public-private collaboration activities. Coordination and dissemination support activities include: intra-Spoke and cross-Spoke coordination for creation, revision and dissemination of written outputs (e.g., policy briefs, periodic scientific reporting); organization of on-site dissemination and stakeholder engagement events; intra-Spoke and cross-Spoke scoping for collaborations; scientific content creation and editorial activities for the on-line research dissemination platform. https://wiki-ageit.tech4care.eu/en/Spoke10

• Duties: core scientific team member developing and updating the Commission’s Resilience Dashboards; data analysis (Stata/R coding); consistency checks against concurrent EC tools and data; liaising for data; technical report writing; funding proposal writing; liaising with Commission’s Directorates-General and Agencies (DG ECFIN, DG EMPL, DG SANTE, DG ENV, DG Home, Eurostat, European Environmental Agency).
• Major joint collaborative actions: European Semester Framework for EU economic and social policy coordination - scientific team member responsible for ‘Annex 5: Resilience’ publication in the 2023 European Semester Member States Country Reports. Duties: quantitative analysis (Stata/R coding); consistency checks across concurrent sources; liaising for data; technical report writing; liaising with Commission’s Directorates-General and Agencies (DG ECFIN, DG EMPL, DG SANTE, DG ENV, DG Home, Eurostat, European Environmental Agency).

• Research duties: Global Value Chains and distributional effects of trade liberalization in EU countries, including longitudinal approaches in assessing individual (health and labour) outcomes for working individuals. Review of new trade theory and trade adjustments literature; quantitative analysis (Stata). Second focus on sustainability, especially social well-being in the context of food security and ecosystem health, and how trade and globalization factor in.
• Project administration duties: contributions to Work Package deliverables and milestones, periodic reports; regular interventions in internal and external meetings (conferences, workshops, seminars involving officials and academics e.g. EC DG Trade, EC DG Agriculture, OECD, IFPRI).

• Project description: the project operated in the field of gender equality, fertility and childcare, providing  insights at the intersection of the public, the private and the voluntary sectors. It developed a conceptual framework and a geo-referenced tool to help in the design and implementation of family policies across the territory, with a focus on community-based social innovation and the role of institutional responses and third sector's involvement in the demand for and offer of family and childcare services.
• Achievements: directly responsible for building and operationalising a spatial matrix of childcare and maternal healthcare services for municipalities in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. Oversight roles in the project: Scientific Committee, Policy Committee and Survey Advisory Committee.
• Research duties: primary data collection (survey design and implementation) and secondary data integration; quantitative analysis and Stata/R coding; design and development of a geo-referenced tool involving a childcare service locator to monitor service availability across the territory allowing selection of the type of service needed by (a) specificity of service (infant and toddler services, family and maternal services, cultural and recreational services), (b) child age bracket and (c) distance from home. Data collection and harmonization between existing administrative datasets on public, private and third sector services to investigate heterogeneous impact of territorial provision on the consumption of care services in the specific policy context of each municipality; elaboration and systematization of the existing gap between demand and offer of services (including literature review, data analysis), and specific policy recommendations.
• Project administration duties: intermediate and final reports; managing partner communication flow; stakeholder engagement (regional authorities, third-sector associations, professional bodies); design, implementation and operation of the service geo-locator; junior colleagues’ oversight.
