Second focus on sustainability, especially social well-being in the context of food security and ecosystem health, and how trade and globalization factor in.

4. "Gender Equality, Fertility, Maternal Health, Family and Parent Support" Project in the District of Modena, Modena Foundation Charitable Savings Bank grant, 2019 to 2021. Available at: https://www.fmb.unimore.it/progetto-pilota-natalita/.- Project description: the project operated in the field of gender equality, fertility and childcare, providing insights at the intersection of the public, the private and the voluntary sectors. It developed a conceptual framework and a geo-referenced tool to help in the design and implementation of family policies across the territory, with a focus on community-based social innovation and the role of institutional responses and third sector's involvement in the demand for and offer of family and childcare services.
- Achievements: directly responsible for building and operationalising a spatial matrix of childcare and maternal healthcare services for municipalities in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy. Oversight roles in the project: Scientific Committee, Policy Committee and Survey Advisory Committee.
- Research duties: primary data collection (survey design and implementation) and secondary data integration; quantitative analysis and Stata/R coding; design and development of a geo-referenced tool involving a childcare service locator to monitor service availability across the territory allowing selection of the type of service needed by (a) specificity of service (infant and toddler services, family and maternal services, cultural and recreational services), (b) child age bracket and (c) distance from home. Data collection and harmonization between existing administrative datasets on public, private and third sector services to investigate heterogeneous impact of territorial provision on the consumption of care services in the specific policy context of each municipality; elaboration and systematization of the existing gap between demand and offer of services (including literature review, data analysis), and specific policy recommendations.
- Project administration duties: intermediate and final reports; managing partner communication flow; stakeholder engagement (regional authorities, third-sector associations, professional bodies); design, implementation and operation of the service geo-locator; junior colleagues’ oversight.
