HEAD (continued)

Moving on with my sculpting, I decided to finish the face of my character.

From the general shape of the head that I've build so far, which consists of two parts (the upper half of the head and the jaw), I started to make her face.

I followed the tutorial that I mentioned earlier, on how to build a stylized head in ZBrush. I inserted two spheres as the base of the eyeballs. The base is a separated subtool from the head and I pushed them inside the skull enough to only have a small part of their surfaces peak through.

Next, for the pupils I thought about how real statues look like and tried to copy the style in which the pupils were sculpted. Take this example of Michelangelo's David. The centre of the pupils is hollwed out while the outter circle pushes a bit out.

After that I swithced to the head and covered them with the ClayBuild brush so i can make an incision with thw Damien brush.

The result were the eyelids. I pushed them with the Move brush just enough to give the eyes that 'almond' shape.

The obstacle that I met during this stage was the smoothing part. The eyelids came out a bit wrinkly so I tried to smooth them not only by using the SHIFT+Brush method. I tried falttening (Flatten brush), a combination between ALT+Damien and ALT+ClayBuild+Smoothing but this is what I ended up with.

In the end I really like how the shape of the eyes turned out.

I also finished the fangs. I used some conic shapes and chaged their form with the Bend Arc and Bend Curve to give them the shape of the fangs.

I tweeked the sahpe of the head and jaw to give them better proportions since, before that, it looked like the top of the head was too wide compared to the jaw.

Note: in my sketch concept, my character had a patch of skin that connected her head and jaw. I tried making that but ZBrush crashed right in the middle of me making it and I couldn't find the autosaved file. I gave up on that detail in the end.
