I’m a lot of different things and some of them contradict. I’m one of those adventure-seeking homebodies. An extroverted introvert. And I am an artist. Someone gave me a degree in Musical Theatre, so that’s got to mean something. And though I love performing, I have found I’m most creative when I’m in the classroom.
In the classroom I get to do all of my most favorite things-- read stories, share jokes, explore different time periods, analyze characters, play with numbers, sing, and even floss (the dance move!)
I’ve lived all over the world, including New York City where I lived with my late husband in Upper Manhattan for nearly four years. Now I’m back in Oregon, living and growing these past four years after the sudden and unexpected loss of my husband to Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2015.
Since then I have worked as a elementary school secretary in Beaverton and later as a special education paraprofessional. I then went on to get my restricted substitute license, working as a certified sub in Forest Grove and Hillsboro, among other districts.
I graduated from Pacific University with my Masters in Teaching. I am thrilled to be teaching first grade at Jacob Wismer Elementary and join a three generation legacy of educators!)
I am also happy to report I am recently married to Mason, a tender-hearted man who has patiently walked with me through grief, grad school, first year teaching AND pandemic teaching!
I grateful to have opened this new chapter and doubly grateful that being an educator is part of my ever-written story. Life truly is a journey and I have loved having a crew of students to journey it with!
