I'm Andrea Maria Cornejo Hovispo - Andrea for short. I'm a third-year Ph.D. student at the Paris School of Economics pursuing a degree in Economics.
As a researcher, I am committed to helping map out what are the skills needed to achieve a quality life, and how we can ensure that students graduate into adulthood with these skills under their belt. In other words, anything that speaks to skill development will catch my eye.
My current work now focuses on improving learning outcomes for migrant students (English Learners) in Arkansas, with an ongoing research collaboration with the Office of Education Policy at the University of Arkansas. I am interested in generating evidence on the role different factors play in the learning and skill development process, including parents, self-perceptions, improvements to education policies, and more recently, student peers and teachers.
Specialties: Impact evaluation of anti-poverty programs and policies, economic development policy, education policy
Just before starting my Ph.D., I had the incredible experience of being part of the Analyst team at the Center for Education Policy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We supported the design and implementation of randomized control trial evaluations of education programs aimed at improving student learning and attendance metrics. Prior to starting my first master's in Education Policy at Columbia University, I also helped shape, implement, and evaluate amazing education and development initiatives with the Ministry of Education of Peru, and with Innovations for Poverty Action.
