Research interests:

My research traverses different aspects of organizational behavior, organizational psychology and service delivery. I take a particular interest in the study of the boundaries of organizations, looking at people and artifacts of the organization with which people outside the organization interact. This has led me to study customer service interactions, where employees act as organizational agents and interact with customers, who are formally outside the organization but hold great impact over organizations and their employees. It also led me to study the physical appearance of organizations and of their employees. My studies have looked at logos and organizational dress as agents in the organizational reputation game and as sources of influence over multiple constituents of organizations. Methodologically I also span multiple methods. I reported extensively on qualitative research, experimental research, field and lab experiments. Most recently I diverged into studies that rely on data accrued and archived automatically through online platforms. These data offer objective evidence of the behavior of employees and customers. This diversion has led me to teach a new course on using big data tools to study and research social and organizational behavior questions.
