We are asking organisers of seminars around the world, particularly in developed countries to share the opportunities to hear leading researchers talk about their work with their colleagues around the world. By defining a universal format for distributing information on seminars/webinars, this database can be maintained and researchers can find webinars of interest to join.
Open access to scientific knowledge is vital to rapid and collaborative innovation. As speakers and hosts have had to shift to remote solutions for seminar activity during the Coronavirus crisis, a unique opportunity exists for a change in the status quo and for 'openness' to become the default choice for research talks in universities - of course always with the explicit consent of speakers.
If you want to participate in #AnansiWebinar project, use this hashtag when promoting your seminar. Filling out the Google Form on our home page will guarantee inclusion in the database. Alternatively you can send us (by email) the information on your seminar as a spreadsheet file, with the following headings:
We hope this unified format will speed up to dissemination of information and science globally, and ensure that researcher in the developing world also have the opportunities to learn from speakers that prestigious universities are fortunate to invite.
Attendees are being welcomed to seminars all around the world, and they should follow any guidelines given by the moderator in the host institution. Attendees from outside the host organisation may be able to ask questions by text or verbally, but they may also be asked to just listen and not interact. These decisions will be made by the hosts. Hosts and guests should be respectful and professional towards each other. And, of course, microphones should be muted and videos turned off when joining a webinar.
Enjoy sharing knowledge around the world!
