About

Anansi Webinars was conceived and designed as part of the Sciathon competition, run by the Lindau Nobel Foundation in June 2020. A team of researchers from around the world ("Team Elmiger") had 48 hours to work on a solution to making seminars more accessible to people around the world. See the video below describing the initiative, or read our report, submitted to the Sciathon jury. The project was presented at the Lindau Online Science Days and won 3rd prize in the "Implementing the Lindau Guidelines" category of the competition.

The Anansi project identified demand for a platform to promote online seminars across a range of disciplines, and also found some services which were working towards similar aims. Since July 2020, we have partnered with ResearchSeminars.org to support this initiative and expand its remit to include more disciplines, in order to achieve the goals of the Anansi project.
