Once you passed out from college with degree, the real learning starts in work place. To be success in Analytical instrumentation, when you are walk-in to the laboratory first time to start your carrier, you need a strong base with clear knowledge on basics.
Analytical instrumentation, has taken the major share in analytical chemistry. To speed-up the process, accuracy and cost reduction, automation is increasing. Most of the time, it has been observed, the fresher walked-in in laboratory, learnt how to operate the system and do the routine analysis. But have not developed the capability to evaluate the instrument output before reporting. This starts to lose self confidence, once the client (internal or external) starts to challenge the analysis report.
So, it is important to make the base strong, learn the conventional way of analysis, along with instrumentation, so that can compare the out put of instruments, whenever their is a probability of big deviation of results.

The day you will be selected first time by an organization as chemist, it will be your one of the best day of your life. You will share your excitement and dream with your parents, relatives and friends. So, prepare yourself to make your first day memorable, you need to be ready for the job.
Basic work in a laboratory is performing the analysis, as per the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). So, when you will get an assignment, you need to refer the SOP. This SOP will cover everything from sample preparation, instrument operation and reporting. But you need to understand what you are doing, as doing work by understands it will make the job simple. Don’t be a push button chemist.
