How to Use Udemy

For individuals who want to purchase a course, they need to sign up for an account with Udemy. The course contents are accessible on both a web browser and their smart device application. Company History

Udemy was founded in 2010 by their founders Eren Bali, Gagan Biyani, and Oktay Caglar. Udemy was built on a software that Bali and Caglar developed while living in Turkey that enabled live virtual classrooms. They saw the potential in their product and moved to Silicon Valley to start Udemy.

Initially, the founders tried to raise funds for the company but were unsuccessful in doing so. Even though they were not able to get investors, they still launched their company with their own investments. Just after a few months, there were about 10,000 registered users and the company was able to raise one million dollars in funds.

Throughout the next seven years, Udemy raised around $185 million dollars in capital. In February of 2019, Udemy appointed Gregg Coccari as their new Chief Executive Officer. Since then, Udemy has raised over $100 million dollars and was valued at $3.25 billion dollars in November of 2020. On October 29, 2021, Udemy held their Initial Public Offering and is now trading on the NASDAQ Stock Market.
