Digital Media Exploration

Project Overview:

My goal for this project was to compile a range of digital media formats into an ePortfolio that I would morally distribute. The project includes animations, movies, audio files, and images/graphics. I've included a note on how I obtained each of these media along with the license details.

Image/Graphic

I discovered these images by searching for "Jamaica" on the Creative Commons website. I downloaded the medium-size versions from Flickr and then uploaded them to my website.

Both images are shared under the CC BY-NC 2.0 license. This means anyone can:

Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material.

However, it's essential to adhere to the following terms:

Attribution: Provide appropriate credit, include a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. This should be done in a reasonable manner that doesn't suggest the licensor endorses you or your use.
No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

This is an animated GIF I discovered on DeviantArt.

Animated GIFs are image files comprising multiple frames displayed sequentially to create the illusion of motion.

I saved this animated GIF from DeviantArt and subsequently uploaded it to my website. Unfortunately, I unable to locate any licensing details or information about sharing restrictions.

This is audio file called reggae3 90BPM Cmin and I choose it because it reminds me of the music back home in jamaica.

To include this audio clip on the webpage, I downloaded it as an MP3 and uploaded it to my Google Drive.

Lesson Learned:

This project highlighted the importance of understanding and respecting digital media licensing agreements, sourcing diverse content, and being aware of Creative Commons, highlighting the need for ethical sharing and collaboration despite unclear licensing information.
