As part of the U.S. Department of Energy-funded PV-SuCCESS project, I led the creation of targeted briefs and two-pagers designed for our technical advisory committee. This advisory group included state and local regulatory officials, solar developers, and community stakeholders. These materials successfully translated complex ecosystem service data into digestible formats, facilitating smooth collaboration and collaborative decision-making across distinct sectors.

I use inclusive design principles to help make a complex topics and data more accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. Whether designing for academic peer review or community outreach, I enjoy the process of translating data into clear, compelling visual narratives that drive informed decision-making.

To bridge the gap between climate theory and real-world management, our team hosted interactive workshops to spark critical dialogues on maladaptation. Partnering with the Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) and the NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, we designed and led sessions for regional practitioners.

I co-founded Field Guides, a mentoring program at the University of Minnesota designed to demystify academic pathways for undergraduate students underrepresented in ecology. In addition to pairing over 100 students with mentors annually and hosting professional development seminars, I managed the program’s events and authored our monthly resource newsletter.

Connecting with local communities where they are is central to my outreach philosophy. As a board member and volunteer with Market Science, a University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences public engagement initiative, I facilitated and staffed interactive booths at local farmers markets. Through hands-on activities centered on plant-pollinator interactions, I shared ecological insights with >200 adults and children.

Science is a human endeavor, and I believe in sharing the day-to-day story of fieldwork. As a member of Team Echinacea, I was a regular contributor to the project's public "Flog" (Field Blog), detailing our summer research activities in western Minnesota for public audiences, supporters, and curious family members alike.
