The Adventure Begins...
I had always wanted to travel to Scotland, but I didn't know where to begin. As a single woman in her 20's who had never flown overseas before, the idea of traveling alone sounded daunting. How was I going to get around? What if I got lost? How do I know which hotels to book and which sites to see?
That's when my mom told me about the Rick Steves tours. I was so surprised when I found that Rick Steves covers everything! Not just group outings and hotels, but also extensive guidebooks on how to get around on your own.
Even though I was traveling alone, I felt right at home within my tour group. I knew I was in good hands with Helen (our guide) and Steven (our driver). For experienced and inexperienced travelers, Rick Steves is the way to go!

Hello! My name is Amy and - as you can tell - this was my first Rick Steves tour (& first time traveling alone AND overseas). I am a California-born, Midwest-implant currently working as a Speech Therapist at a middle school.
Before signing up for my Scotland trip, I had recently graduated with my second degree. As a woman in her 20's, I had been juggling many things such as starting new jobs, finishing school, figuring out where to live.... I thought traveling would have to wait until my retirement years.
One day, while looking through the Rick Steves site, I thought - "Well.... why not?"
I worked hard (sometimes 2 or 3 jobs) to set aside funds, got my passport, and soon I found myself flying over the Atlantic.
I hope this scrapbook can be an inspiration to many - especially those like me who are just starting out in life and feel like traveling may not be in their reach just yet. Let this be your sign - Don't wait! If you wait for the right moment, you will be waiting forever. Take that first step and see what adventures lie ahead of you!

Travel back in time to the Iron Age and walk through the historic Hermitage forest. Golf lovers will especially love the stop in St. Andrews on the way to the capital city.

The city of Edinburgh is definitely a place everyone should experience at least once in their lives!
