Upper Moreland Middle School
2021-2022
The pandemic caused national learning loss. Upper Moreland students were chosen based on PSSA and classroom data to participate in Read 180. This program was implemented in addition to their literacy class. I was selected to pilot this program for our struggling readers. Through this intensive, data-driven reading program, many students were able to find success in all classes by receiving fundamental reading comprehension support. I worked with our struggling readers to find the joy in reading again and increase skills and strategies across all content areas.
Upper Moreland Middle School
2013- 2021
I taught 7th grade Literacy at Upper Moreland Middle School for nine years. I taught two academic level blocks and one accelerated single period. Through my time with UMMS, I have helped to develop curriculum through my role on the Framework Committee. I have recently adopted and adapted a new curriculum through the Collections Program. I taught within a team and served as the leader for multiple years. I have worked on various committees to serve our students, staff, and community. Outside of being a team leader and curriculum committee member, I have served the following groups: FOLT (school improvement), Acceptance Day, and The Humanities Task Force. Each of these committees have supported an inclusive and rigorous academic environment for all students. I have loved growing as an educator with UMMS.
