I began as the UMMS librarian during the 2023-2024 school year. During my transition into the role, student and staff circulation has risen from the previous years. I have completed inventories, balanced a budget, weeded outdated fiction, spearheaded engaging passive programming, and implemented a self checkout station for students to build independence. I have continually supported staff by identifying appropriate resources and collaboratively teaching strategies that build literacy and research skills across all content areas. As part of the Book Reconsideration Committee, I helped update district policy. I completed generifying the library in the winter. With the support of my administration, I attained a grant to create small, collaborative spaces to support student and staff learning. My enthusiasm and attention to detail has made the library the central hub of the school.
This year, I have more than doubled circulation from the previous librarian!
As the Young Adult and Children's Librarian, I served as a conduit of information between the public library and the school district. I facilitated various outreach programs, helped to teach technology classes, and cataloged new materials.

Using Technology as an Instructional Tool
I completed my student teaching during my MLS at Upper Moreland Middle School Library. I was able to develop my role in the library by working closely with students. I focused on deepening research skills, teaching students how to accurately cite sources, and use emerging technologies. I also helped to coach the 7th grade Reading Olympics team. I continued to coach Reading Olympics in subsequent years.

During my time at CBSD, I learned about NoodleTools and used it extensively with my students. Upon arrival to Wilson High School, I reached out to the librarian to find that Wilson did not use this amazing resource. I was able to help implement NoodleTools with my sophomores and seniors. It was exciting to share this tool with students and staff.
