Art Practice
My current art practice is in relief printmaking and watercolor painting - two very different stylistic and tactile experiences. I have found great pleasure in the slow and methodical process of reduction linocut printmaking and over the past three years I have grown an online shop where I consistently sell my prints. Reduction printmaking is a rather small niche in the art world, and I was never able to find a way to take courses on this method, so I taught myself through books, youtube and experimentation. I am proud of my growing oeuvre and continue to learn and grow. I have learned through printmaking to have patience with the process and myself as I learn and grow. Creating and selling art is a marathon endeavor, not a sprint.
Another medium that I am continually enamored and challenged by is watercolor. My body of watercolors span from portraits and still lifes to landscapes and illustrations. While much of my growth in watercolor is through personal research and experimentation, I benefitted from continuing education classes in watercolor and figuring drawing. As an educator, I prioritize being a life long learner. I consistently look for ways to expand my skills for my own enjoyment and to share with my students.
