Hi there! I'm Amy Bakken, an artist and art educator living in the Portland, Maine area. I have been enjoying the natural beauty and artistic community of Maine since moving here from my home state of Illinois in 2022. Prior to graduating from Maine College of Art & Design with my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2026, I supported elementary and middle school students as a special education technician and taught private art lessons out of my home. I am excited to bring my passion for art to the youth of Maine!

On a beautiful summer day, I like nothing more than spending a day at the beach with my husband and five children, painting the beautiful scenery en plein air. When I want to create art indoors I turn to carving and printing multi-layer reduction linocut prints, equally inspired by local scenery. If I’m not at the beach or making art you might find me hiking up a local mountain or in my vegetable garden.
