Thank you for your interest in AMS50 committee membership. Members of the committee are individuals, appointed by TRB upon recommendation of the committee chair and TRB Executive Committee. They serve for a 3-year period, which may be renewed up to two additional times. There can be up to 25 regular members in a committee, plus slots for up to 3 additional members from outside of the US and up to 2 "young" (under age 35) members. The committee is currently co-chaired by Michael Lawrence and Noreen McDonald.
Committee members are selected on the basis of their expertise, experience and contributions to the field, as well as their interest and ability to contribute to furthering the committee’s objectives. We also seek to maintain a reasonable balance in membership across sectors (government, industry, consulting firms, universities and other agencies organizations) and locations. No more than one person can be appointed from the same organization.
An appointed member is expected to attend committee meetings each year and to contribute toward committee activities, such as (a) reviewing submissions of research papers, (b) helping to organize paper and conference sessions at TRB winter and summer meetings, (c) contributing to the committee's web site and newsletter, and/or (d) helping to develop workshops and resource materials.
If you are interested in becoming a member of AMS50, please fill out the information below, using the message box to note your past and current activities pertaining to this topic, including both activities as a friend of the committee and non-TRB activities. If you wish to apply as a "young (under age 35) member", then also note your current age. We will follow up to inquire about a resume or CV. Note that there is normally a waiting list for membership in the committee.
Thank you for your interest in AMS50. We welcome all persons interested in research on the topic of economic development and land use.
