Decodables are special types of books that are written with only certain phonics sounds. This way, new readers can practice their phonics skills by "decoding" the words using the sounds they know. If your child knows the sounds for s, t, i, and a, they can read words like "sit" and "sat" by sounding them out.
Decodables usually come in a set and follow a sequence. As your child goes through the series in order, they will be able to read more letter sounds, more blends, and more challenging words. You can usually see the exact sequence on the back of the book.
This 20 book set includes books that focus on basic sounds for new readers, and more advanced decodables for older readers.
