Brief Biography:

Dr. Amit Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and the Department of VLSI Design and Systems Engineering (VDSE) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra, India, where he joined in July 2025. He has more than 10 years of academic and research experience in the areas of VLSI design, nanoelectronics, semiconductor technology, and high-speed VLSI interconnects.

Dr. Kumar received his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India, in 2021, with research focused on high-speed advanced VLSI interconnects and circuit design. He received the M.Tech. degree in VLSI Design with a Gold Medal from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra, India, in 2012, and the B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from C.I.T.M. Faridabad, Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, India, in 2010. Prior to joining NIT Kurukshetra, he was an Assistant Professor at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, where he also served as Faculty-in-Charge and contributed to the development and establishment of the Centre of Excellence in Semiconductors. He also held academic positions at NIT Delhi, VIT Bhopal University, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, and The NorthCap University, Gurugram (formerly ITM Gurgaon).

His research interests include high-speed VLSI/ULSI interconnects; advanced VLSI design encompassing devices, circuits, and systems; semiconductor nanoelectronics; novel one-dimensional (1-D), two-dimensional (2-D), and hybrid semiconductor materials; energy-efficient memory systems for next-generation electronics; and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) applications in semiconductor nanoelectronics and VLSI design. His broader research interests also encompass device–circuit co-design, emerging semiconductor technologies, and advanced nanoelectronic systems.  

Qualification:

• Ph.D. in VLSI Design (ECE) from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), 2021.

• M.Tech. in VLSI Design (ECE) (Gold Medal) from National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra), 2012.

• B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) from Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak (MDU Rohtak), 2010.
