- Me, Padua, Italy.
I am a PhD student in politics at New York University and a collaborator of the Origins Project, working under the supervision of Prof. Stasavage.
I have received a master's degree in economics from the University of Bologna, and before that, I received my B.Sc. in economics from the University of Tehran.
My research interests are institutions, state formation, and historical political economy (HPE); This includes both the ancient world and the contemporary.
My work has been focused on Early Bronze Age societies in Mesopotamia and Egypt, where I analyze the effect of k.a. 4.2 BP mega-drought and the emergence of more inclusive political institutions.
I am also interested in studying the political and economic reformations in the Ottoman, Qajar, and Russian Empires, which resulted in a more competitive economy but failed to implement democratic institutions.
Furthermore, I have a project on the comparative study of state administration in Byzantine, Sassanid, and Islamic Empires.
