Welcome!! My name is Amin. I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Kansas. My research interests lie in different aspects of structural engineering with a particular focus on community resilience against natural hazards. I received my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas in 2022, got my M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering from the K.N.Toosi University of Technology in 2009, and earned my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Isfahan University of Technology in 2006.
I am currently working on developing interdisciplinary equity-based community resilience models that take both physical and social vulnerabilities into account. The moonshot goal of my research is to advance the state of the knowledge on developing cross-disciplinary frameworks and reliable metrics for incorporating functional recovery goals in building design codes and including equity into infrastructure planning in order to mitigate the impacts of extreme natural hazards on communities and improve their overall disaster resilience.
I embrace the characteristics that make our academic community unique and will defend individuals against discrimination based on differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic, or veteran status.
