AMF Équitation
Where it all begins.
AMF Équitation is an equestrian (riding and driving) instruction program located in Northeast Iowa near the city of Decorah. We welcome students from total novices drivers and riders through intermediate level riders, introducing them to the fun and challenge of riding & driving. Working under supervision, students will establish a foundation of safe habits and knowledge for future riding & driving enjoyment. We focus on English disciplines following the USPC & French Equestrian Federation (FFE) curricula with the aim of creating “a thoroughly happy comfortable horseman, riding across a natural country with confidence and perfect balance on a pony equally happy and confident and free from pain and bewilderment’’ (Pony Club).
The lesson program at AMF Équitation emphasizes safety, horsemanship, and sportsmanship and is designed to help students:
become confident, comfortable, and sympathetic riders/drivers,
with the knowledge necessary to take responsibility, under supervision, for the care and welfare of a horse/pony (handling, feeding, grooming) and related equipment (tack, barn).
AMF Équitation currently teaches lessons in Ridgeway about 15 minutes from Decorah, Iowa, and from Cresco, Iowa.
