2023 Recap

Hello, to all of our fellow supporters and actors of Amethyst Studios! We hope the year of 2023 has treated you well! We, the people at Amethyst Studios, definitely had a strong year. Unlike the other years we've been in operation, this was our very first year where we were strong, and not only released two amazing short films, but started to get to work into some serious business.

As the year is about to end, let's look back at some of the great things we did this year!

The first thing we want to give a shout out to is our first official short film, titled The Infamous Fallout of Tara and Raven! Released on July 14, 2023, it was a project that has been in the works for around two years at that point. It was originally supposed to be footage for Amethyst Studios' cancelled series, titled "Goffik Gurlz", but due to a lack of cast and crew, the series was cancelled. However, that didn't stop Kan Seamount from taking the footage and making it into a short film that created a fun and compelling story with the footage that was already provided, with the power of editing. Because with good footage and effort put into something as creative as this, you don't want a creative project's footage to go to waste.

The film stars Ashley Adamian, Alicia Celestine, Rynn Brown, Kan Seamount, and Kaylen Blankenship, all (excluding Kan) who have made their first big, official film debuts in this project.

The film tells the story of Raven and Tara, the authors of the infamous My Immortal fanfiction, also combined with the YouTube girls from the xXblo0dyxkissxX channel. It is based off moments mentioned in the Author's Notes where Raven steals Tara's sweater, so their friendship falls apart, which even includes the character Britney (portrayed by Alicia Celestine), who was a stand out character in our film.

Our next big thing was the official announcement of our next upcoming film, titled I'm The Boss Here! This is something we have been working on, since the announcement in October, and we cannot wait to get started on it. This film will have a much bigger cast and crew than our previous two films, which were done solo, so we are definitely getting into the more serious realm of real world, hands-on production of film. Our cast and crew will contain very awesome and talented students from the University of Georgia, which has a wonderful film program, and we cannot wait to work with them, especially unknown actors who want to rise high in Hollywood!

We thank everyone for their patience, as we continue to work on the film.

Up next, we have our Christmas special, and our very first holiday-themed film, titled A Very Preppy Christmas! Just like The Infamous Fallout of Tara and Raven, it also contained footage from the cancelled "Goffik Gurlz" series. The only major difference is that it contains additional footage that was shot in November 2023, since there was hardly any previously shot footage. However, we were still able to make a fun, compelling story, regardless.

The film stars Kan Seamount, Rynn Brown, Alicia Celestine, Ashley Adamian, and Abigail Ford. This time around, the majority of the supporting cast has very reduced roles while Kan Seamount plays multiple characters, with different colored wigs and outfits to build the world of Goffik Gurlz.

Additionally, this is the first film to have a remote self-tape used in the film, created by Abigail Ford, later edited in with a green screen special effect. Green screen and special effects through remote films are a huge deal in Amethyst Studios, because it allows actors to participate without having to travel. We are hoping to do more of this in future productions!

This is even the first Amethyst Studios film Abigail Ford stars in. She's an actress at UGA who is just starting out, and has spend the entirety of 2023 studying theater and becoming an actor! So it looks like we're not the only ones to accomplish something big this year! She will be in our upcoming production I'm The Boss Here, and we are looking forward to not only working with her more, but seeing her career take off in the future!

Apart from the films and announcements that really helped us kick off our company this year, we have become more active than before, what with meeting new people in the UGA film community, and even launching this website, and even spreading the word about who we are!

What's Next for Us?

With the New Year coming up, everyone has dealt with one big thing: New Year's Resolutions. What do we want to accomplish in this new and upcoming year? What do we want to improve? What new things do we want to try out?

Well, we at Amethyst Studios have very good plans for 2024. With 2023 helping us kick off, we anticipate much greater things in 2024. It's even more interesting, since 2024 will be when the upcoming Presidential Election will take place, along with production of I'm The Boss Here, a film that focuses on real world issues, such as politics.

But we're not too worried about that right now. Here is a cool list of some big things we plan to do this year:

• Create more remotely acted films. They don't have to be big films, but just fun on-the-side films to stay busy and keep the audience entertained.

• Or just create more short films in general.

• Get into serious production for I'm The Boss Here.

• Get involved in other local productions.

• Raise money to buy more (and better) film equipment.

• Submit 2024 films to film festivals.

• Continue to cast more unknown actors at UGA while still using the ones we already have.

• Continue to promote our company, but bigger than before. Such as spreading our brand to many other platforms.
