FAQ

You may have some interesting questions about or for us, whether its career related, or if you're just curious. Here are some frequently asked questions!

Do cast and crew get paid?

Unfortunately, not right now. We are still a very small company, and is just starting to make productions, so we don't really have a budget. But hopefully, as time goes on, we will be able to earn enough money to pay people for their hard work, because they definitely deserve it!

What software do you use to edit films?

The current editor is Kan Seamount. The editing softwares are iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and sometimes Adobe Premiere Pro. Although iMovie is used the most, Final Cut Pro is used for slightly more advanced effects. We are planning to move to mainly using Final Cut Pro, though.

I'm a new actor and I want to star in an Amethyst Studios film! Where do I sign up?

If you go to "About" in the drop-down arrow, and find "Careers", you will find some available job openings, and you can follow the page to a Google Form where you can fill out the necessary information. However, if there's none available right now, you may sign up for e-mail updates on that same page, in the "Sign Up" section.

Will there be possible animator/voice acting opportunities?

That's something we are looking into, and one that we would absolutely LOVE to do! As stated, our goal is to hire rising actors, so why not do the same with voice actors and animators? We will definitely look into that opportunity.

What if I'm an actor, and I live far away, or even out of state?

That's a difficult question, because although you can travel, not everyone would be able to do so, since it'd be hard to stay somewhere when you're on your own. But if you are able to, that's great. But what if you can't? Well, we have several options for that.

Option 1: You can try and become a voice actor. It's different from acting, though, since you have to rely on your voice to bring a character to life, with emotions and all of that. That stuff can be for phone calls, news reports, announcements, etc. If possible, we could definitely create animated projects for voice actors, which is something we're looking into! It's a great way to get experience remotely. I'd recommend using CastingCallClub, if you'd like to gain voice acting experience.

Option 2: Remote green screen effects. Sometimes, depending on the film or scene, we will have moments where you don't have to be there, but just perform the scene on your own. Other times, you will be required to stand in front of a green screen or blank background and record yourself performing the required act. And then you will be edited in the background to make it look like you're there.

I will try and make as much opportunities for remote green screen effects, with shorter films, and not official shorts, if that helps. You can always contact us about these sorts of opportunities.

Are auditions required?

Since this is cuurently a small company - no, auditions are not required. They are optional, though. But if you are serious about acting, and would like to send in an audition, it is highly encouraged, since you will definitely have to do that in the real world.
