About Us

History

Amethyst Studios is an independent film company, founded by Kan Seamount, a Film Production graduate from Columbus State University. Formerly known as Kan Studios, it was officially founded on August 22, 2019, as a simple YouTube channel for content, when Kan first started attended college. With little, yet previous and starter experience in independent student filmmaking and on-screen acting, Kan decided to hone and expand their skills with the technology and support provided to them, and even started screenwriting and creativity for possible films.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, film productions around the world affected not only the entertainment industry, but independent filmmakers and productions companies, such as this one. During the pandemic, Kan started pre-production on a later-cancelled web series called Goffik Gurlz, an edgy high school comedy series about Tara and Raven, a duo of My Immortal authors and YouTube trolls combined into the same character, as they face cringy preps, meet new friends, and even write the iconic, yet infamous My Immortal fanfiction.

While production did successfully take off, it unfortunately fell apart, due to the lack of cast and crew, especially since the world was still recovering from the pandemic. But with the fun, thought, and effort put into it, why should good footage go to waste? This is when it was turned into the short film, now known as The Infamous Fallout of Tara and Raven, which was edited into a well-flowing story, and published into a 15-minute short film on July 14, 2023, which was coincidentally around the time of the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

After the success of the company's first official short film, Amethyst Studios eventually started to take off into serious action, with making connections and collaborations with other filmmakers and actors, later in the year.

While the company has struggled in bits, the real-world issues did not affect the creativity and thought put into fun, potential projects. During these last years, Kan has created side projects, such as commercials, a web series, and even film/TV screenplays for future potential movies, showcasing their industry skills, and has even taken classes in film production, Georgia Film Academy, and has made strong connections with professionals and colleagues.

Today

While Amethyst Studios is still growing, we are hoping that, with the help from our supporters, peers, and fans, we are hoping to expand this company into something greater! Our aim, as independent producers, is to give a helping hand to those who wish to pursue a career in the film and entertainment industry by giving recognition to rising actors, providing hands-on experience for the crew, and make unforgettable connections that will last a lifetime! Every little film helps out on the resume a lot, and we are a big believer in supporting student-produced films.

Originally from Columbus, Georgia, we currently reside in Athens, Georgia, the city of the iconic college University of Georgia, known for its football games, wide open campus, and diverse backgrounds.

We are more than excited to have you on our journey to success, and we hope to give the same to you!
