Part 2: Jersey Devil

Author's Note: The Jersey Devil is an urban legend that is older than the country itself, born in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey in the 1730s. Legend has it that a South Jersey resident named Jane Leeds had 12 children and, after finding she was pregnant for the 13th time, cursed the child in frustration, crying that the child would be the devil. The 13th child was born a monster, flying off to the Pine Barrens to haunt the forests, and named the Jersey Devil or the Leeds Devil by residents, where sightings would continue all the way up to the most recent report in 2009.

The Devil's appearance in this story, as well as its trademark "blood-curdling cries," were inspired by the descriptions given by reported sightings of the creature. Its behavior was inspired by my own rendition on the creature, giving it human traits to match its grotesque form. I hope you enjoyed reading, and I hope you're satisfied with the choice you made...
