As the Great War came to a close, President Wilson introduced his idea: a “League of Nations.” In general the idea was to take the model of the United States and apply it to all the nations: separate nations united together under one International Confederacy. The goal was to join the world together in such a way that war would never happen again. Also, this league would disseminate democratic ideals throughout the world. With democracy, the president hoped Christianity would also be spread.
DECISION: You are a U.S. Senator. President Wilson has been rather successful selling his idea to his allies around the world. But, according to the U.S. Constitution, any agreement/treaty that the President makes must be ratified by the U.S. Senate. How do you vote on this League of Nations proposal? Ratify or Reject? Why?
