6-12 Social Studies Grade Level Expectations
As outlined in the 6-12 Social Studies Grade Level Expectations, three main standards to which this webquest adheres are "History: Continuity and Change, 6-8 American History, Theme 5, A, B, and C."
Theme 5 -
A: Analyze political compromises over slavery in the territories to explain intensifying sectional conflicts.
B: Trace the events as well as political, cultural, economic and social conditions leading to conflict between Northern and Southern states.
C: Describe critical developments and turning points in the Civil War, including major battles.
Students will be able to accurately:
Apply research tactics with the use of the internet to successfully write and make claims and effectively back up their stance.
Accurately use research tactics and multiple sources to support their understanding (conclusions, analysis, and inferences).
Evaluate how a (historical) person's actions reflect his/her historical/cultural perspective.
Understand the strengths/weaknesses of the North and South during the Civil War
Accurately understand the struggle for Missouri, including the founding, divide (American Civil War), and Reconstruction
