Ham and Turkey Shoots - Held Annually

Next shoot - November 5, 12, 19

Ham Shoots are held the 2 Sundays before Easter, and Turkey Shoots are held the 3 Sundays before Thanksgiving. Ticket sales start at 8:00 and the event starts at 9:30am.

Bring your own shotgun or use shotguns provided.  All ammunition (12,16,20, or 410).is provided by the Post. No ammunition may be brought onto the premises.

Cost is $3 per target for regular rounds, and $5 for money rounds(every 10th round)

Ham Shoots offer prizes of one ham gift card and one turkey certificate per round of 25 targets. Money rounds offer prizes of $50 and $25. Proceeds go to Youth Organizations sponsored by the American Legion.

Turkey Shoots offer prizes of two Turkey certificates and one ham gift card per round of 35 targets. Money rounds offer prizes of $50, $25, and $10. Proceeds go to Christmas Gifts for needy families in our local communities.



Memorial Day Parade - May 27, 2024

All veteran, youth groups, business, schools, band groups, city entities and the like are welcome to join the parade.


No political, life style or advertisement of product is allowed during the parade or ceremony. This event is a memorial to those that have given their life in service to our country. There can be no distribution of any materials, handouts or candy during the parade.


No registration is required. If you wish to participate, please arrive at Wheaton Memorial Park not later than 9:30 am on the day of the event and check in with the members of the American Legion Parade Committee. They will be located at the southeast corner of the park and wearing red ball caps.


You cannot drive into the park area unless you have a vehicle or float in the parade. Parade participants must be dropped off outside the park area. The parade will start at 10:00 am being led by the City of Wheaton Police and Fire Departments. The parade will end at Wheaton Cemetery where the Post will hold a ceremony at 11:00 am.


Memorial Park is located in Wheaton, Illinois at the intersection of West Union Ave. and North Hale St. Suggested drop off areas are on North Wheaton Ave located on the West side of the park or West Union Ave. located on the North side of the park.

All other streets around the park will be closed to vehicles.

Parade Route

The parade begins at the corner of Hale St. and Wesley St. and proceeds West on Wesley St. to West St. then South on West St. to Wheaton Cemetery.
